proxy server

hi,

Is there anywhere a log file for Logviewplus himself ?

I don't understand why my proxy setting doesn't work :-(

Hi Philippe,

LogViewPlus writes a transfer log for monitoring network connections such as SFTP.  Where are you having proxy issues?  A proxy server can be used in multiple features (such as registration).  Not all features have logging enabled.

LogViewPlus does not write an application wide log file.

It can be difficult to debug proxy settings.  Are you seeing an error message?  FYI, we use the Rebex proxy client internally.  This component is normally very reliable.

Hope that helps,

Toby

Hi dear Support !

The registration of the license went well without needing the proxy, but check for update show an error message 'Unable to check for updates. Please try installing LogViewPlus manually'.

So it's not very serious at the moment, but I like it when everything is set up correctly.

I use Zscaler locally as proxy internet, and environment variables for the proxy settings are
https_proxy=http://localhost:9000
http_proxy=http://localhost:9000

In your opinion, what are the values I should put in Proxy Type and Hostname ?

I would suggest Socks5 with a host name of 'localhost'.

Unfortunately, I don't have a local proxy server configured for testing.  If you continue to have problems, I will setup a local server to verify application internals.

Finally I tested all "Proxy Type" (Socks5, HttpConnect, Socks4a, Socks4) with "Hostname" localhost and "port" 9000 without success : "test connection" reply always "Unable to connect to the internet".

And I stopped and restarted LogViewPlus between each test.

I didn't specify but I use LogViewPlus v3.1

Thanks for your effort Philippe.

This sounds like it may be an issue in the code.  Let me configure and run some test locally and I will get back to you.
