We are excited to announce LogViewPlus v2.6 which marks the full implementation of our new Rules feature - complete with rule conditions.

Rule conditions allow you to specify one filter to indicate when a rule should be applied and another filter to indicate when the rule should not be applied. Essentially, rule conditions allow you to turn rules on or off based on the contents of your log file.

For example, a rule condition might highlight log entries only under certain situations. It's a powerful new tool in your toolbox and something you are going to want to experiment with to understand how they can best be applied to your log files. As always, we are excited to see the ideas the community come up with and look forward to expanding the set of rule actions in the future.

This release also contains a lot of small enhancements and bug fixes. We are very pleased with how the overall quality of the product has been improving over the past several months and we plan to continue to prioritize quality over new features for the remainder of the 2.6 release cycle.

What's Next?

So far 2022 is proceeding to plan. The 2.6 release includes a number of enhancements which improve our auto-parsing feature and we have completed some of our design work around reporting.

Our next release should be available in about 2-3 months. This release will be primarily focused on quality as well as a new 'Text Templating' feature which will allow you to manipulate data in the current view. With text templating, you could generate SQL statements on the file, or create a custom data export format.

That's it for now. Check out the latest release and let us know what you think!
