Using LogViewPlus 2.4.20 the validation of a directory monitor on a network share seems to be hanging after clicking on 'Validate' if the directory to monitor has a lot of subdirectories and files. In my case I'm only interested in files in the current directory. Is there a way to specify this?

Hi Axel,

I suspect that it is taking LogViewPlus a long time to scan through all of the subdirectories.  Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to create a directory monitor without recursion.

I will take a look at this issue and have a fix for you later this week.  I will post back here when available.

Thanks for reporting this issue!

Hi Axel,

We have now released LogViewPlus 2.4.25 BETA.  This version introduces a checkbox to indicate if the directory should be searched recursively.

You can download the BETA release from: https://www.logviewplus.com/download.html

Hope that helps.  Please let me know if you have any further questions or issues.

Hi Toby,
thanks for the fast response!

It's now usable in my case however the validation still takes a while when it comes to many (~4.000) files sitting on a network share.

Cheers,
Axel

Thanks for the update Axel.

I will take a look at the performance, but this is likely to be a function of things that are outside of LogViewPlus's control - like security and network settings.

Thanks,

Toby

Hi Axel,

I took a look at the performance issues you highlighted and was able to significantly improve performance when reading log files over the network.  These changes have been released in the latest BETA version (v2.4.26) available here:  https://www.logviewplus.com/download.html

Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention.

Toby
