I like that LogViewPlus supports the Windows Event Log as a datasource.

However, the Security log is missing from my list in the application.

Is this by design? If so, do you plan on including it soon?

Thanks,
Remo

Hi Remo,

Thanks for the feedback.

LogViewPlus can read from the Security log, but setting this up is dependent on your user permissions.

I would recommend:
  1.  Remove your existing Event Log configuration.
  2.  Restart LogViewPlus as an administrator.
  3.  Add a new Event Log configuration ensuring that that 'Security' log is selected as a 'Log Source'.
  4.  Open the new Event Log.  You should see Security entries in the Logger column assuming some logs have been written on the target machine.

The new data source can then work without running LogViewPlus as an administrator.  However, certain user permissions may be necessary.  Please let me know if you have any trouble with this.

Hope that helps,

Toby
