Hi Craig,

I just ran the analysis again and I can see that both AV providers are now reporting the file as clean.

Hope that helps.  Thanks again for bringing this problem to our attention.

Hi Craig,

I just wanted to update you on this.

NANO-Antivirus and Zillya are still reporting LogViewPlus as a virus.  I have contacted both vendors multiple times and have yet to get any response.  I have also reported the vendors to VirusTotal.  Hopefully I can get a resolution in the next few days.

Thanks,

Toby

Hi Craig,

Thanks for reporting this issue!  I have contacted both anti-virus vendors, so hopefully we can get the exe white listed soon.  I can see that v3.1.18 and 3.1.15 both seem to have issues with the these vendors.

Regarding our forum software, it looks like you had trouble posting a message again.  I can see the message posted above was originally flagged as spam and then you added another, simplified message.  Apologies for that.  I went ahead and deleted the duplicate to clean-up the thread.

I think the forum problem could be with the URL, but the spam detection might also be picking up on strings like: "| NANO-Antivirus | Trojan.Win32.Crypt.kpkvnd | Zillya | Trojan.Agent.Win32.3972642 |".  Maybe something to keep in mind.  We normally do not have false positives with spam, so something weird is going on.

 Hope that helps,

Toby

Here is the link to the scan...

NANO-Antivirus and Zillya both report a trojan threat:

NANO:  Trojan.Win32.Crypt.kpkvnd
Zillya:  Trojan.Agent.Win32.3972642

Would be great to have this white listed so we can use your software.

Hi Craig,

Apologies for the slow reply. Our forum software incorrectly flagged this message as spam. Unfortunately, this can happen sometimes when users pick usernames which are too generic. I have never seen the problem before when a users full name is used, but you may want to update your username.  This can be done by clicking on the 'Your Profile' link above (it is next to your user name) and then selecting 'Edit Account'.

Thanks for reporting the issues discovered with virus total.  I have just re-run the scan and everything seems ok.  It also appeared fine before I triggered the re-run.

We discuss this topic in Trust and Networking, but some anti-virus providers give their product away for free and then charge users to remove any 'viruses' which are discovered.  When evaluating antivirus false positives as reported by VirusTotal it is worth noting that some antivirus vendors are more reliable than others. LogViewPlus false positives reported by major antivirus vendors such as Norton, Microsoft, Google, Avast, MalwareBytes, BitDefender, Kaspersky, Sophos or Acronis are exceedingly rare.

That said, we do contact anti-virus providers to report false positives.  If you are able to send me a virus-total report I would be happy to contact the vendors.  Whitelisting usually takes 3-5 days.

Hope that helps,

Toby

My IT department has exposed logViewPlus security issues.

https://www.virustotal.com/

logviewplus_setup.exe

2/73 security vendors flagged this file as malicious

| NANO-Antivirus | Trojan.Win32.Crypt.kpkvnd | Zillya | Trojan.Agent.Win32.3972642 |

In order for us to be able to use this software (2 licenses have been purchased already) we need these scans to be clean.

Can you provide some evidence that this is a false positive, or fix the product so the scan is clean?

Thanks in advance,

Craig
