LogViewPlus v2.4.30 is now available.  This release has taken a little longer than expected, but that may be because it is our largest ever.  There are a ton of new features and bug fixes.

Probably the biggest change in this release is that we have completely revisited how automatic parser decisions are managed.  The user flow had started to suffer because the process was developed as needed over time rather than holistically.  This change has two parts main parts.

First, we consolidated all of the message popups that could occur which explained how a file was parsed.  All of these messages now come through a single dialog which (importantly) can now display multiple parse results.  LogViewPlus added Zip and GZip support in the last release and it became obvious that we really needed to consolidate the notifications.

Second, we revisited the ParserWizard and put in a number of changes to make it more user friendly.  Some of these changes are small - like adding a link to open your log file in a text editor to get a sample log entry.  Other changes are much more noticeable.  Where we used to have a three pane view of Config, Sample, Progress Report, we have consolidated this down to just the basics.  The sample log entry is now transformed as the configuration is created.

The documentation on some of these new features is still pending, but we have released a new video showing the new parser configuration process in action.

Check out the latest release and let us know what you think!

What's next?  Syslog support is already in the works and coming along nicely.  We are going to try and go back to our normal (small) release size, so hopefully we should have this out in 3 - 4 weeks.  With a bit of luck, we might be able to squeeze in UDP support as well.  :-)

Cheers,

Toby
