Error report send through SMTP job

Hi,
I have a set of production servers that LogViewPlus can read the error.txt file. I was wondering if it is possible to run it from command line and email the error using SMTP notification?
Example:
New Prod Servers group Workspace - Server 1, Server 2 etc.
Goal: SMTP of Server 1, Server 2 etc log level error (see screen shot)

Hope that helps.
Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out.

You can start LogViewPlus from the command line and open a target workspace.  However, LogViewPlus is a GUI application.  It needs to run within a user / windowed environment.  It cannot run as a background process or service.

Hope that helps,

Toby

Hi,
I looked at the command line options but I can't seem to open specific workspace as seen on the screenshot previous post. Since you mentioned it is GUI application and I get it that it can't run as a service, how do I send SMTP of the error log? Will there be a plan down the road to include command line options to do more that only GUI can do now?

You can use LogViewPlus to monitor a log file and send email - but the application will need to be running for a logged in user.

By default, LogViewPlus stores all log entries read in memory.  This makes LogViewPlus a memory intensive program.  If you want a server process which monitors your log files, you are probably looking for something more light-weight.

We would like to create a separate server process which is built on the LogViewPlus parsing logic, but this isn't something that we are actively working on at the moment.

Hope that helps,

Toby
